Banking
Banks can be found in every city on the shard. In rare instances, players may come across a wandering banker in the wilderness. Banks are indicated by a gold pile on the building sign. Within you will find Bankers and Minters. The bank allows you to store items securely, and access these items from various locations.
Due to the large number of players coming and going at the bank, banks have also become a social center on the shard. It is not uncommon to find players visiting or selling their goods. There is often an increased number of thieves near the bank. Use common sense in the banking area and pay attention to signs in the area.
Tha Bank Box
Every character has its own private bank box. The private box is the most secure container available to a player. No player can see within another's bank box, nor can a player access another's bank box or the items within. Each character is only allowed one bank box. It is accessible from every bank, no matter the location. Each bank box can hold a maximum of 125 items; there are no weight restrictions.
To open your bank box, enter the word bank. It may be said alone or in a sentence for those preferring to roleplay Open my bank, sir!. You must be within seven tiles of the banker, however unlike other NPCs, walls make no difference. A banker will respond to bank whether you are inside the bank or out, as long as you are within seven tiles. Additionally, bankers are multi-lingual! They will respond to bank in a multitude of languages.
Gold Management
The maximum amount of gold in any one pile is 60 000 gp. As a player's gold increases, the number of gold piles will naturally increase. To manage larger sums of gold, and reduce items in the bank box, players can convert gold to check form.
A check can be made by a player for a minimum amount of 5000 gp, up to a maximum of 1,000,000 gp. Checks are a blessed item providing a secure method of transporting gold for player trading.
Use the command check XXX (where XXX equals the amount of gold to be converted to check form). You need the equivalent amount in gold in your bank to create a check. The banker will remove the gold from your bank and replace it with a check worth the same. The banker will not cash another check within your bank to create the new one. If you do not have the funds, or if they are already in check form, the banker will tell you "Ah, art thou trying to fool me? Thou hast not so much gold!"
Player vendors and town shop npcs will not cash a check when paying for a purchase. The gold must be in gold form for them to 'see' it.
The Banker
There is at least one banker (or minter) at every bank, most have more than one. Bankers will respond to typed commands if they are within seven tiles of your character. You do not need to be in the building.
Bankers also respond to vendor buy and vendor sell, within two tiles of the npc. From a banker you can purchase empty commodity deeds or contracts of employment. Commodity deeds sell for a standard price of 5gp and show green in the banker inventory. The Contract of Employment is for placing player vendors. They sell for a standard price of 1025gp and show as a normal deed in the banker inventory. Both items are named 'deed'. Faction taxes will affect applicable towns like all items sold by npcs.
