Hybrid Trade Fairs

Trade Fair Setup - The Fair - Vendors - Fair Rules - Merchant Information

Hybrid Trade Fairs are held four times a year. Dates are announced a week or two before the event on the Hybrid Forums.
A trade fair consists of a public location designed for player vendors, usually within a town. Players are permitted to have a vendor in this location for a limited number of specific days, generally over a weekend.
With a large number of vendors in one location, activity and sales are high. Many players take the opportunity to place a vendor that will be seen by many. Houses and banks are cleaned of unneeded items. Merchants take advantage of extra sales and promotion of their own shops. Almost anything can be bought at the fairs, including rares, bulk resources, supplies, and more.

Set Up

The Hybrid Trade Fairs all begin with a Set Up period in the setup arena.
Setup is announced ingame and will be posted in the announcing Fair Thread as well. A green moongate is placed beside East Britain Bank that leads to the setup arena. Town Criers will announce that setup has begun.
Players who want to place a vendor can come to the setup area at this time to place and stock their vendor. Vendor fees are taken when the vendor is placed.

The Set Up Arena contains multiple stalls to set up vendors for the fair. There is bank access and a provisioner. A GM will move you to one of the rooms and offer you a vendor contract for a two week period.

**The Fair does not run the full two weeks, however a two-week contract provides time to collect items and gold once the Fair has concluded. Do not forget about your vendor. Staff does not replace lost gold or items.**

Once the vendor is placed, you are left to customize and stock your vendor. When you are finished, have a seat and a GM will check your vendor and move you from the room. Your vendor will be moved to the Fair once it has begun.

The Fair

When the Fair begins, the Fairgrounds appear and the vendors are moved in place. Towncriers announce the Fair opening. Merchants do not get to choose their location. Staff will keep multiple vendors, owned by one merchant, together.

Vendors can be managed at the Fair in the same way they can be managed in a vendor house (stocked, dressed, etc).
The Fairgrounds are busy during this time. Advertising and spam are not permitted. Players are encouraged to advertise their vendors and vendor malls in the area outside the Fairgrounds.
When the Fair is over, the remaining vendors are moved back to the setup area. Players can page to retrieve their items and cash in any gold their vendor may still have. Don't forget about your vendor!! You only have until your contract runs out to collect your items.

Vendors

Vendors are controlled through the Vendor Management Gump.
Double-click your vendor to see the gump.
It will look something like this:

If your vendor is male, you'll see the gump on the left; choose Female to make the vendor a female vendor.

Choose the vendors hair style and color (color is the last option in the list); Choose the facial hair if the vendor is male.
Close the gump.

You may not see the hair changes immediately.

Now, single click the vendor and choose Open Paperdoll.
Drag and drop items to or from the vendor's paperdoll to dress the vendor, just as you would on your own paperdoll.

Finally, Choose Rename Vendor from the Vendor Management Gump.
Type in the name for your vendor and hit enter. You are limited to 20 spaces. The name must be acceptable (no racism, vulgarity, etc). Vendors with unacceptable names at the Fair will be deleted, the owner jailed.

To Stock the Vendor

From the Vendor Management Gump, choose See Goods.
The Vendor Backpack opens. This is where you display your wares.
Place an item in the backpack. You'll be prompted for the price.
Type in the price and hit enter. Alternatively, include a description after the price if you choose.

In order for a container to be set Not For Sale, the container must be empty when placed on the vendor.

Always check the Vendor Management Gump when you are Done stocking. Check the vendor fees and be sure there is enough to cover the vendor costs. Staff will not replace items if your vendor runs away due to lack of vendor fees.
