Alchemy
Alchemy is the skill of creating potions. Alchemy is trained by Alchemists and Herbalists.
Tools of the Alchemist include the mortar and pestle, empty bottles, reagents, and potion kegs.
Reagents are ground with mortar and pestle to make potions.
Each of the 8 reagents can be ground to make a different type of potion, some in varying strengths.
Reagents may be purchased from mages, alchemists and herbalists.
The mortar and pestle is sold by alchemists and herbalists; craftable with the tinkering skill.
These items destroy after a number of uses. Clicking the mortar once will show you how many uses are left.
Empty bottles are filled with the potions made.
At least one bottle must be in your backpack to create a potion, even when using potion kegs.
Purchase from an alchemist or herbalist. Craftable with glassblowing.
Potion kegs are an optional item for alchemists.
Each potion kegs can hold up to 100 bottles of the same potion.
Potion kegs are only available from other players, craftable with carpentry and tinkering.

The Alchemy Gump
To make a potion, dbl click the mortar and pestle.
The alchemy gump appears (as shown below). This gump is used to pick the potion you wish to make.
It also has information on items and skill as pertains to each potion.
If you are successful in your attempt, the potion will fill your empty bottle and appear in your backpack.

Clicking any of the left tabs will open the gump to the corresponding potion type.
For example, clicking poison on the above gump will show the following:

The right side now shows the types of poison potions available. Click the tab next to the potion name to create the potion. If successful it will appear in your backpack. If you fail, some materials may be lost. Using the LAST TEN tab on the left will show the last ten types of potions made.
Clicking the tab after the potion will show the following:

This gump shows the details for deadly poison at GM Alchemy. There is a 20% chance at success when making the potion. It is possible to make the potion starting at 90.0 skill level. Nightshade (8) and a bottle are needed.

Potion Kegs
Potion kegs store up to 100 potions. To fill a potion keg, drop the potion on the keg. The potion goes in the keg and the empty bottle is returned to your backpack. Each keg can store one type of potion. If you have a potion keg in your backpack with at least one potion (and the required bottle), any potions made of that type will automatically be poured into the potion keg. Clicking the keg once will show the number of potions it contains by the following phrases:
| Number of Potions | Phrase |
|---|---|
| 0 potions | The keg is empty |
| 1 - 4 | The keg is nearly empty |
| 5 -19 | The keg is not very full |
| 20-29 | The keg is about one quarter full |
| 30-39 | The keg is about one third full |
| 40-46 | The keg is almost half full |
| 47-53 | The keg is approximately half full |
| 54-69 | The keg is more than half full |
| 70-79 | The keg is about three quarters full |
| 80-95 | The keg is very full |
| 96-99 | The liquid is almost to the top of the keg |
| 100 potions | The keg is completely full |
To create a potion keg you will need the following items created by a carpenter: barrel staves (3), and barrel lids (2). From a tinkerer you will need: a barrel hoop (1), and a barrel tap (1). You will also need 10 empty bottles. Using three barrel staves, a barrel hoop and one lid a carpenter must fashion an empty keg. Using the empty keg, 1 barrel tap, a barrel lid, and 10 empty potion bottles, a tinkerer can create a potion keg.
Additional/Complimentry Skills
Poisoning; put your poison potions to work.
Combat/defense skills; alchemy boosts explosion potion damage +1 per 10 alchemic skill points.
Glassblowing; trainable to GM Alchemists.
Glassblowing
Glassblowing is a secondary skill available to Gm Alchemists consisting of creating glass items from sand. This skill is not listed on the skill gump and does not require skill point room.
To train Glassblowing, purchase the training book "Crafting Glass With Glassblowing" from a glassblower. The cost is 10,625gp. Dbl click the book to gain the skill. The book is destroyed but the knowledge is permanent.
| The tool of the glassblower is the blowpipe. These are purchased from a glassblower costing 30gp. Like other crafting tools, this tool has limited uses and will wear out. Dbl clicking the blowpipe by a forge will bring up a crafting gump. |
Like the alchemy gump, selecting a category on the left opens up the menu to more options. Some glass items may be turned with a house tool for a wider color selection.
| Glass items are made from sand. Sand is obtained from a miner trained in mining sand (in the same manner an alchemist trains glassblowing). |
The following lists items craftable with glassblowing, resources needed, succes rate and additional colors from turning the item.
